Hi all.
I was going to buy Gothic,
but after reading FAQ and
reviews I'm not convinced.
There are some well known
serious gameplay bugs.
I know that there are workarounds.
But enabling cheat
mode to fix bug is best way to
ruin immersive role-playing experience.
(e.g. infamous Ultima IX)
Will authors release another patch
or they are too busy with Gothic 2 ?

As far as I know there is only one or two main bugs.
So with some advices (what not to do), you will be able to play without cheats.
I do not think Pyranha bytes will release new patch. |

Don't listen to all the bad press about bugs that stop the gameplay. I have encountered absolutely no (zero) game stopping bugs at all. If you read carefully in the posts, you will find that to some extent those who encounter the "bad" game stopping bugs are not playing the game the way an rpg is intended.
I repeat - I have had NO game stopping bugs and I played it three times fully and several more partially. Buy the game as it is the best RPG out there.

I also doubt there will be another patch. The English version equals the patched German version. The remaining bugs are random.
Unfortunately JemyM doesnŽt really differentiate between minor & major bugs and exploits.
You can be lucky and encounter one of the few important bugs only once (or never ) in three completed games or you can get the full dosis in one game (which means you have to cheat three times for a few seconds to open a gate with the console, insert a book-with-a-script or activate godmode).
My impression after all these months is that if it runs stable on your machine youŽll be able to finish it, bugs or not. The stability can be found out with the demo.

Yes. I agree with Joey and Gorath. I ran through the whole game with no crashes or bugs,
except for the Lester bug. That can be avoided by not having Lester show you around. |

Buy the game. The only bug I saw was the Gorn bug in the free mine. But then you only have to talk to him and donŽt need to worry about that any more. |
