| Bought German Version of original Gothic 2 By accident |

Is there a way to make this german version of gothic 2 english? If worse comes to worse, can I mail it back to the makers for a new version of an english one? Thanks |

No. The game is not multilingual. You can't change the language in an option pane, etc.
The only option is to replace the subtitle files with the English one. However, I doubt anyone would help you here, as it is illegal to transfer any copyrighted material from the English version to you.

Try if the subtitle file for the add-on makes any sense for the add-on. If so you can be happy.
It does work for sure on G2 + add-on in German. (not counting CP problems and stuff.)

I'm quite sure the addon script would not work for original G2, which is what Airlonnie is asking.
The addon script is a bit different from the original, and thus the OU index will all screw up.
Either you'll get a wrong subtitle for a speech, or the game won't load at all. |

but most of the dialogs are the same:
only a few are different |

The text is the same, but the scripts are different.
For instance, one of the subtitle files instructs the game to play the addon intro. What will happen if you put it into the original? |
