Spellforce: Review @ Gamer Nation UK |
Gamer Nation UK has slapped up a colourful review of Phenomic's Spellforce. The score is 92% with the author waxing lyrical about the game's strengths. Here's an interesting description of the graphics:
Let us speak of beauty, fellow traveller. The Alps seen from a hot air balloon; Niagara Falls, Rachel Weisz, a dazzling, resplendent sunrise. Compared to SpellForce, all of these look like a puddle of vomit littered with mystery vegetables. It seems that the graphical benchmark in games is expanded almost weekly, but never quite as sublimely as in SpellForce. The beauty of the game demands you evolve an extra set of eyes to truly appreciate the scale and splendour therein. The lands are verdant and pocked with subtle foliage, well-textured buildings and shimmering lakes with schools of fish languidly swimming. You can even see the reflection of the sun and moon in the water; such is the true attention to detail. The atmosphere is astounding, and the sight of trees swaying in the wind and vast monuments will win your heart and make your eyes praise you for the ages for purchasing this game. It is not just the environment that makes the jaw drop. The units in the game are equally commendable; elegant, well animated and detailed even when viewed up close. There will be no confusion on the battlefield due to the sheer detail and distinction, and clicking on a unit (friendly or hostile) will bring up a dazzling animated portrait in the bottom left window. And wait until you see the titan and demon units later in the game. Poetry, thy name is SpellForce.
