RPGDot Feature: Tabula Rasa Interview with Richard Garriott

After a one year break after he left Origin and almost 2 years into works at Tabula Rasa, Richard Garriott aka Lord British tells us a little about his next MMORPG sensation Tabula Rasa:

RPGDot: I understand there will be hubs for each player of party of players. Can you explain in detail?

Lord British: The MMP social Hubs are where all players meet and buy, sell, socialize, for parties, etc. Then all adventuring takes place in private spaces to the party, unless we the designers plan a meeting of multiple parties!

Last summer, Lord British said, they're in the first year of a scheduled 3 year developing period only, so now they may be in the middle...also the fact, that they don't reveal any details about the gamingworld yet, let's one assume, it will take at least another 1.5 to 2 years till the release!

It sounds as if they are getting rid of a free roaming world in favor of "maze" levels and "maze" towns. I'm interested in seeing how well this works. By confining the travel space, they will be able to increase the detail of the level. Also, it will get rid of the tedious wilderness runs (if my assumptions are right). I wish it had more info on gameplay, or at least a functioning website. The NC Soft link doesn't load up.
