| BBC News: "Whatever happened to Dungeons and Dragons?&q |
|
"In the 1980s millions of teenagers world-wide would battle dragons armed with just a few dice, paper and pens. D&D became part of youth sub-culture but as the game celebrates its 30th birthday - is anyone still playing?"

Quite an interesting article, though I might take exception to the claim they invented role playing!! _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

it's going stronger than it ever has ... fueled by the popularity of Lord of the Ring and Harry Potter. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

Lets see, I have introduced at least 6 new players in the last 6 years. Not too shabby a growth from one very part time DM. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

I didnt know ur a DM too, thats cool! im a brand new DM, heh. But ive been a player for ages -- probably most of my life (started playing at ~8 years old)...
i remember watching my friend Scot play when i was like 6 or 7 years old. holy cow that was ages ago when the books were RED.
EDIT -- and then after i got home, i started writing and drawing my own little game based on it, and played it with my big brother Vinnie! hehe those were the days...
EDIT 2 -- oh ya, and i was too young to express the rules in writing, so i was putting all sorts of nonsense that Vince was saying like "this doesnt make sense" and i was saying "yes it does! you have to play it!" lol
EDIT 3 -- and then i made up my first monster, it was a green bug-like grasshopper humanoid called a Mucmie! lol... with antanae and everything. |
