Peter Jackson on The Hobbit

We've all heard rumours about Peter Jackson wanting to make "The Hobbit" but I haven't seen much by way of evidence. MyWay is <a href="http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040306/D814VP480.html" target="_blank">reporting</a> an Associated Press article that quotes Peter Jackson on the subject:<blockquote><em>Jackson said New Line Cinema has the rights to make the movie, but MGM has the rights to distribute it. <br> <br>"I guess MGM's lawyers and New Line's lawyers are going to have a huge amount of fun over the next few years trying to work it all out," he told reporters recently in Los Angeles, according to AP Radio. "I'm obviously busy for a couple of years on 'King Kong' so those lawyers can just go at it for a long time."</em></blockquote>

'couple of years'? Wow, is King Kong going to be a trilogy also?

Two years isn't that long a production time for a special effects intensive movie production. All of the Jurassic Parks were filmed back to back, for example, and they were two years apart easy.

I'm just glad Sir Ian looks to be in such good health and shape. It might be a few years.

King Kong is due out next year apparently, and the short piece said that he'd been working on it for a while already. I'm glad he's on both projects, who else could do The Hobbit. Going to have to revisit that book to refresh my memory when it gets to it. =) Going to have to watch a bunch of oldie King Kong and Godzilla movies come time for the ape flick. =P
