| the best meleeweapon and armor in Gothic 2 |

the best weapon you'll get is a magic ore blade, 1h (that what i chose 60 damage) or 2h (this one is stronger i think). you'll probably think that i'm wrong, but i'm not becaus you can consecrate the sword at the monastery for 5000 GP so it turns into a 'Blessed ore blade'(70 damage). later, when you have found the 'Tears of Innos' you can consecrate it again for free so turn isnto the 'Wrath of Innos' (80 damage). 
the best armor is a paladin armor(i think), wich you'll get in the secret Library in the Monastery.but i won't tell how

Hmmm, what about the Large Ore Dragonslayer with 110dmg and 100str required? Isn't that better? |

Sorry, but disagree.
Most powerful melee 1h weapon: Ore Dragon Slayer (90 DMG)
Most powerful melee 2h weapon: Large Ore Dragon Slayer (110 DMG)
Both are used by dragon slayers.

In official gameplay, Paladin's Armor is indeed the best armor. However, Shadow Warrior's Armor is actually better.
Here are the stats:
Paladin's Armor
Weapon Protection: 100
Arrow Protection: 100
Fire Protection: 50
Magic Protection: 50
Value: 20,000
Shadow Warrior's Armor
Weapon Protection: 100
Arrow Protection: 100
Fire Protection: 65
Magic Protection: 100
Value: 500 |

Any hints(just hints) on where to find that kickass gear?
And I have to say that the magic paladin blade is a waste of time and money. You can get the Dragon Slicer(80 dmg, 80 str) for free early in the game, you just gotta run like hell...

First only paladins can use the heavy paladin armor and only dragon slayers can use the large ore dragonslayer...which has to be forged yourself later in the game. NEither of these may be found and all are only available after certain chapters/quests...you can't just get them and then power through the game...it is very similar to the ore armor in G1. |

Hints? Okay.. Keep your own paladin ore blade. It is indeed the BEST weapon in the game for a paladin. (Well, they're second best weapons in the game.) Any better weapon is available only for dragon slayers.
The Dragon Slicer is actually less powerful (in terms of damage rating) than a paladin blade. |

oh, nooooooo. sorry guys, you misunderstanded me, you are right, but forgot to mention that it is the strongest weapon when your a Paladin  , but at least we got us a interresting topic

So the paladin blade does more damage even though it has got the same stats? Better keep it then(costs a fortune though...)!
What's this Shadow Warrior's armor then? Never heard of it. Some hints on that as well?

You can upgrade it in the game. Once the sword is "advanced" to its highest level, this sword (Wrath of Innos or Holy Executioner) will be the second best sword in the game. Combining with his magic runes, paladins will be indeed a very powerful character.

Only available for former Shadow Warriors (even the current ones don't wear it). You can only get it by cheating. |

If you're a merc/dragon hunter, don't worry about it until you killed all the dragons. If you're not a merc/dh, the sword will not be yours.

Join the mercs first. You'll join the dragon hunters at the right time.

I think the actual armor values in the game are different from the ones printed in the manual.
Also, the heavy dragon slayer armor is better in different ways.

The Dragon Hunter armour is the best in the game.

YES! You heard me! That's exactly what I said despite what everybody else is saying!
Reason: The Dragon Hunter armour has got 60 in dragon fire protection(Paladins' armour 50), and the final boss is indeed a dragon.
Against everything else, the Paladins' armour is the best. |
