I just bought an ATI Radeon 8500LE last night along with Morrowind, installed the card, installed the game, and everything was fine.
This morning I hopped on the web and went to ati.com and grabbed the latest drivers there listed for the card (version 5.13.1.6037 released March 20th). I uninstalled the old drivers, installed the new ones, and then tried to load up a saved game. With the newer drivers, the game completely locks my computer right when it gets to the end of "Initializing Interior" when I try to load a savegame. It does the same thing if I start a new game at the time that I exit the ship through the hatch.
I've gone back to the drivers that were on the disc included with the video card, and it works again, but I was wondering if anyone has a similiar problem or knows what might be causing mine. The game runs decently on the drivers I have now (there's a few bumpy spots, but I've got the graphics fully cranked), but I'd still like to know what's going on.
My system specs are:
Win2k
512MB Ram, Athlon 1.4ghz
SB Live!, ATI Radeon 8500LE |

damn, that could be bad, really bad. I just bought a Radeon 8500le, i get the game on Monday, i'll tell you how it works for me

640 megs of Ram

Hi. I also have a radeon 8500. Works excellent with Morrowind.
I use the latest unofficial driver. www.rage3d.com has good info about ati video cards, and you can download the latest drivers there.
Hopefully this will help solve your problem. |
