GameGossip has noticed a re-filing for the System Shock 3 trademark by EA with the USPTO. At this point it could mean anything from protecting the trademark for potential future use to a sign of actual progress of some kind - don't read anything into it at this point. |

If EA is going on like that someday noone will remember these licenses anymore. So perhaps EA feels the urge to resurect some of these licenses asap.
I don't know if i really would want a Shock3 without the old devs involved - that wouldn't be System Shock anymore. So please EA let this license R.I.P before you rape it to death... And if someone wants to tell me that Shock2 wasn't made by the same devs as Shock1 then all i can say to you is that's not true - there were devs from Shock1 that did participate on Shock2. System Shock isn't just Warren Spector you know... |

I'll eat my hat if EA is planning on making System Shock 3. They are just doing their usual thing and making sure nobody *else* can use the name.
But that's fine. Since some of the original developers (working as Irrational Games) have been making a pretty little game called BioShock for some time now. It's the only REAL successor to the System Shock series you'll see. And even if EA *does* make SS3 you can guarantee BioShock will be better and EA's SS3 will be nothing but a consolized piece of crap ala Dues Ex Invisible War.
If you've been living under a rock and not read about BioShock before here's a few little things:

Personally it's one of the small handful of games I know about that I'm actually eager to play. Let's just hope it gets published. |
