Hi, it might be a silly question, but I'm a newbie, just bought the game today 
anyways, I really wanna become a mage.. In every roleplaying game, I played the game with a mage first, and I wanna keep that tradition
but I find it extremely difficult to become one. I read in the book that was added to the game that I have to go to a temple, give 1000 gold and a sheep. In order to find the temple, I will have to buy a map which will also cost gold.
so 1000 gold + a sheep + a map, makes a lot of gold. And I have found no way to get my hands on such an amount, for killing wolves will only yield me little money, and a lot of effort, plus I must pay the guards 100 gold to let me back in.
I don't want to cheat, but does any1 know how to get my hands on enough gold to finance me becoming a mage? (novice)

1.) Learn how to pick locks. There are a lot of chests in the game that need this skill.
2.) Learn how to remove animal parts. There is a guy up at the entrance to the pass that will teach you to get teeth, claws etc. all for only 100 gold.
3.) collect plants a herbs and sell them. A few are really expensive, up to 500 gold.

You can also learn how to sneak and how to pick locks, then you just wait untill night time and go out and steal alot of things form people. If you go down to the harbor then you can steal a map at the map maker (cant rember his name) |

to get money...
sell your things to the map maker... beat him up and take them back, sell them to him again, beat him up again....
he doesnt care, and he doesnt have a weapon....
