OK is it just me or has Gothic 2 not been addvertised at all it seems so ammzingly stupid to have created this amazing game in my opinion the greatest RPG of all time (crushing morrowind and NWN underneath its feet) and then they just dont bother to addvertise it i think that if they had just put a few adverts in the games magazines and things like that the sales wud be a thousand times better _________________ >>>-------(-_-)----------> |

Developers are really not responsible for advertising... Publishers are, and, this time, Jowood simply blew it. |

The original version has been well-advertised and thus topped sales charts in no time.
Atari is the overseas publisher, not JoWooD. Overseas PR is their job. |

No. Gothic 1 would be the one that didn't get advertised at all. Gothic 2 at least got banner ads at Shacknews and VE3D. Of course, online advertising doesn't really help getting the word out to the 'masses', but it's still better than nothing at all. No doubt, Atari didn't really pull an enormous effort to market the game.
And yes, as Jaz already mentioned, JoWooD isn't responsible for the marketing in the English territories. As far as I can tell they did an ok job at advertising the game in the regions they published it in, but then again the first Gothic had already sold quite well and the sequel got also pushed through the press feedback in Germany and the like.
