Dungeon Siege - played it 2 hours, then it became a present for my little cousin
Soulbringer is a good game, JA 2 is one of the best. Deidranna lives is challenging, even for veteran players.
Except for Wizardry 8 i have to critizise most modern rpgs for being too easy in combat, for example Arcanum, Morrowind, Diablo 1+2, Dungeon Siege ...
Balancing a game is a difficult task and should be done with probability calculus and higher mathematics methods. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild= |

Okay, I have to throw my two cents in!
My least favorite was one of the King's Quests games - maybe 5. I got stuck in a forest and gave up in frustration. I later learned that to get out, I had to be in a certain "box" of the forest, throw out some gems, let the little beastie take them, repeat, on third try I had to bag the leprachaun. Not the first or second try, but the third.
How was I to know to throw out gems? How was I to know it would only work on one square?
Dumbest darned thing After I learned what I didn't do correctly, I hunted up the box. Know what I did? I did not reinstall it, I didn't give it to my brother, I didn't give it to my (then 4yr old) son to play with, oh no, I cheerfully threw the box on the fire, and used the CD as a frisbee. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

I was seriously stuck on my first RPG (okay, it was a 'light' one) all those years ago... and it took me two whole weeks to figure out why I was stuck in one certain spot. but I pulled through, and yippie, could finish the game after all ... now that was an experience, I can tell you. _________________ Jaz |

I don't know if this counts because I didn't play more than two hours into it, but I think that Ultima Ascension really blew. _________________ New to 3D? Check out www.3dbuzz.com today! |

my pick for worst RPG
is...
***Ultima 8 !***
it took me away from the Ultima Series altogether!
it had a stupid interface and I didn't know what to do or what was really going on!
I must defend some other games here though:
-dungeon siege...falls into the same category as diablo..more action than RPG.. if you judge it by this point of view it's actually a cool fantasy action game with great graphics
- dungeon master 2...surely only for advanced players...buff your characters often and get a rune list of the spells before playing
- lands of lore 2... the first game which actually made me think that I "WAS" there in the fantasy world! because of graphics and fast-pace action, I didn't finish it though because I still don't know how too stop morphing!
- stonekeep - had it own charme, and was a decent actionRPG
- Realms of Arkania!! - Because based on a complex pen&paper system you have to read the manual closely before playing
you can take the easy mode so you don't have to deal with all the skills |

Like I said, I'm not putting a dime into a computer that isn't mine. Plus what I did see of the game it seemed like Baldur's Gate on steroids, and I didn't really like Baldur's Gate. So I'm no too disappointed anyways.

I thought I might defend Icewind Dale a little bit.
I found the story to be quite atmospheric, even spooky, in the later stages. That terrible war that seemed so far in the past, with those ghosts of the doomed elves... And that little slave girl that couldn't speak...
But I must admit everyone here has played three times as many CRPGs as me.
(And I didn't like the Heart of Winter expansion much) |

I think many people here mix "worst game ever" with "biggest disappointment". My biggest disappointments in newer time is M&M9 and Dungeon siege, but they are no way near the worst games I ever played. I just expected so much more from those games, but I still did play them having a good time. People who mention "Soulbringer", "Diablo 2", "Revenant", "Darkstone" as the worst CRPG game ever, must have a very limited experience with CRPG games. Even none them is in my top 10 list either, there still are a lot worse games out there. |

Hated rpgs by me
1. Wizardry 8- reminds me of boring dungeon crawls that have no point.
2. Dungeon Siege- just alot of hacking and slashing.
3. Bg1&2 and Icewind Dale etc etc - Most of the dnd games I've played so far were too much number chasing and too little story. Or just mind numbingly boring.
4. Dark Earth- Couldn't figure it out and the story line was kinda lacking.
5. The Realm(sp?)- put out by Sierra and later bought by Codemasters. I believe its still in existance but the game is so repetetive. No story, no pretty, and was very archaic.
More on this later. _________________ "What are you gonna do? Release the dogs?! Or the bees?! Or dogs with bees in their mouth so that when they bark they shoot bees at you?" - Homer Simpson |

You're right, I think I've played less than 10 rpgs (more if you count games I never finished). _________________ ''Perhaps I'm old and tired but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied.
