They're changing the controls for G2.......NO!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
Did you guys read about how they're changing the control scheme for Gothic 2? The left mouse button will be used for attacking and the right button for parrying. WHY!?!!?!?! I think this is a huge mistake!! Despite the fact that a lot of (ignorant)people bitched about the controls in Gothic, there was nothing wrong with them. In fact, I think Gothic had one the best control schemes I've ever used once I got used to it. The only negative thing I could say is that they had a steep learning curve for about the first 30-45 minutes of game play. Once you got used to them though, they were fine. I hope the development team reconsiders this decision. I plan on playing Gothic again right before G2 comes out and I don't want to have to relearn the control scheme all over again. I hope they at least include an option to use the G1 scheme in G2. |

Well, I used the LMB when I attacked something in Gothic. _________________ There once was a youngster, DzD

That's not what I meant. I think they intend for the LMB to actually swing your weapon in G2. The control scheme in Gothic where holding down the LMB and using the arrow keys to swing your weapon was fantastic! I don't want them to change that. |

You mean that they are going to change that you aim at one character and then hold down the LMB and then press left/right/forward/back? _________________ There once was a youngster, DzD

I think we will eventually get used to the new control by the time the game is out. _________________ =Farseer=

One of the things that made Gothic such a unique and great game were the controls. I hope they don't change them. |

I'm sure you'll be able to change them back if so desired. A little more mouse friendliness would do my poor left pinky finger a world of good. Between cramping it for hours at a time playing Gothic and sneaking in Morrowind I'm surprised it can still straighten. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

hehe.... i liked gothic's control scheme, no mouse required, that is unique, and made gothic one of the more fun games to play. i cant wait for gothic 2, but... you are right, gothic fans should be able to jump right into the game and not have to worry about learning a NEW thing. _________________ Moo. I liked the old controls as well, but I think using the mouse for inventory drag'n'dropping certainly is an improvement. And I always used the mouse for fighting. _________________ Jaz |

I won't mind at all if they change the inventory screen interface, just don't mess with the fighting interface! |

We must have played to many FPS. I canīt play a game where you donīt use the mouse. _________________ There once was a youngster, DzD

I thought the controls in Gothic were really good also. I do agree with Jaz and Val though--a little more mouse control in the inventory would be welcome. _________________ ''Perhaps I'm old and tired but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. I'm going to like being able to block, but I want to see a game that comes out with a small plastic sword hilt and infrared sensors on it. (You know where I'm going) You will be able to use the sword to control your character. _________________ Make good choices. |
