Joining and working for more than 1 guild

Hey I'm in distress here. Is it a stupid idea to work for more than one guild? I'm in 4 so far. The fighters guild wants me to get a code book from someone in the thieves guild. In order to get it I would have to kill some in the thieves guild what is the point in working for these guilds anyway?

Maybe you should only join one guild.

well I just tried to steal the book the she attacked me I killed her and took the book. now the other people at the thievs guild dislikes me and I've been expelled from the thieves guild

wow this game amazes me more and more

PS. I found fighting easier and less frustraiting if you set the options "allways preform best attack" to on.

Well open-ended DOES mean open-ended

I think you can be in as many guilds as you'd like, really. And that quest doesn't say you have to kill her to get the code-book, you know. At first when I asked her about the code-book, she denied knowing anything. Being the Nord Warrior that I am, I thought I would have to skull bash her for sure. Then I thought about it, and I sweetened her up with a little admire persuasion and then bribed her a bit to get her to have a better impression of me. After that, when I asked about the code-book, she just gave it to me! =)

And yes, this is the BEST CRPG that has ever been made yet so far...

Just remember that GUILDS are FACTIONS also and some are enemies of other GUILDS and other FACTIONS.
Example:
IMPERIAL LEGION
Hated Enemy - None yet
Enemy - Ashlanders, Camonna Tong, Clan Aundae, Clan Berne
Hostile - Temple, House Telvanni, Theives Guild, Clan Quarr
Friendly - Mages GUild, House Hlaalu, House Redoran
Ally - Imperial Cult, Blades(Main Quest and Story line), Fighters Guild
Beloved Ally - none yet

So if you join the Imperial Legion forget about Camonna Tong being nice to you.

Joining too many guild can be a bit problematic
I try to play the guild from a roleplay-point of view. As I am a noble member of the thieves guild, I would never consider joining House Hlaalu as they have strong connections to camorra tong (sorry if I'm mispelling the names, can't really be bothered to look their names up right now )
The imperial legion is also out of the question, atleast for now, although I won't mind doing quests that harm the vile camorra.
I'll also be staying loyal to the Blades, atleast until I get some more information about them. I really can't trust my current spymaster, as he is a bit of a 'sweet-tooth' (i really cracked up when i first noticed the skooma pipe tucked under his bed ) Although it is probably just a disguise, I'll stay on his good side until he proves to be an worthy ally in the secret order of the Blades.
Hmh. I'm really rambling but it's a slown day at work and i just can't wait to get back home and play some more =)

WHY DID U KILL HER??

You didn't have to kill her. I just bribed her until she was at 80 or 90 and she gave me the book for free. There are more ways then one to solve some quests. Killing isn't the answer to everything. It wouldn't be much of an RPG if it was.

I think that if you are a member of the Thieves guild she will NOT just give you the code book. I had to kill her for it as I cannot steal so well (at all). You just have to pay 1000 gold to "make amends" and get back into the thieves guild for it's quests.
