I am having lots of problems navigating the main menus?

I just got this game I have a major problem and that’s navigating the main menu screens, it is extremely slow or even non-responsive at times, to the point of having to ctrl-alt-del and shut the game down.

I am running the game with 9800XT everything on full and the in-game graphics performance is flawless so I don’t think it’s a graphics issue. Anyone else experience this menu problem if so is there a fix?

Also, I do not have a cursor in the game, menus or otherwise should there be one in this game?

Thanks for any help

There is no cursor. Items highlight when you look at them.
The menus should react. Not really quickly but without lag.

Is there some backround software running? The cpu overload (that imo causes the lag) might be the reaction of an application of some sort, a sevice even if you're using Windows XP. Does the menu act the same way when you open it in-game?
