? regarding installing several mods

Hey everyone,

Ok, when I am installing different mods, do they all go into the data files folder under Morrowind?

I had 2 official mods installed and then last night I downloaded Giansv2.0. The doc that came with Giants told me to move the data files folder it created into the Morrowind folder and say "Yes" to overwrite files. But I had other mods in there that I didn't want to overwrite, so instead I copied over the Giants files into their respective folders in the Datafiles folder.

Can someone please let me know if this is the way to install these mods? I really don't want to overwrite any existing mods that I have on there.

Also, what is the best way to remove a mod and all of it's components?

Thanks a lot everyone.

Slachkey: the Giants files would only overwrite files from your other mods if they had the same names, which is unlikely (Giants even uses its own folder strucutre, as I recall). But what you did is fine, and slightly safer.

To remove a mod and all its components, you'd really have to delete the files by hand. A sophisticated mod author should provide a file list in the readme file, but otherwise you'd have to ferret them out by hand (assuming you keep the .zip file around, which is a good idea anyway in case you have to reinstall at some point, you can always use that to find them). However, to "unload" a mod from your game, all you have to do is "uncheck" it in the Data Files screen from the MW startup menu.

Since you're apparently a careful person interested in taking precautions, I'd advise the following one, more important than all the others: back up all your save games in a separate folder before loading them with a new mod. Mods CAN corrupt your savegames, and there are reports of this happening even with games that you saved before the mod was installed.

Once again, Srikandi to the rescue! Thanks a lot for the reply. I already made a backup area for my saves, and I make backups before any changes.

I've got about 6 mods right now that are waiting to be installed.

Thanks again Srikandi, you are the bomb.
