I think this is highly exploitable feature that should be corrected.

I don't understand your problem?
Do Animals heal themselves where you come from?

You heal your character by eating some meat and sleeping. Animals, monsters, npc's do that to but they don't heal. This creates an exploitable imbalance in the game. A friend of
mine has killed 30 orcs, he's 10th level. The main reason he was able to do this, is because monsters don't heal. Even when a new chapter starts.

Well, you can't expect perfection in a game. There will always be 'bugs' and such that can be exploited. If you are really concerned, write the developers and ask them to consider fixing this in a patch or making Gothic 2 more balanced by having the animals heal over time. Simple solution.

Maybe animals don't heal, but npcs do.
When I followed Baal Parvez he drink several healing potions after fighting monsters. When I followed Mordrag he had to eat bread and cheese after fighting a wolf because I had bought all his healing potions befor we left the Old Camp.

Actually, NPCs consume healing items whenever injured below a certain point, if such healing items are available. They also sleep if they can find a path to an available bed. When they can't, they just sit on the nearest surface that is a valid sitting place, but that doesn't let them regenerate.

You are expecting a wolf to whip out a health elixir in mid-battle with you?
Or maybe run off to NC to get healed by that water mage?
I dont think they programmed animals to have human-like intelligence, this is why they are animals. Plus if you kill an animal, all you will find is claws or furs, either they already drank their last health potion before their battle with you, or maybe they just dont own any health potions beacuse, again...
they are animals.
Hard to open exlir bottle without an opposable thumb...another trait that sperate us, humans, with them, animals.
No game flaws here. This is pretty much 100% logic

It would make sense for them to heal at chapter changes. I just don't care.

Not really. If someone hacked at you with a sword, you'd be injured for quite some time, even if you were an animal.

Yes, I agree NPC's heal, at least they use potions, food, to heal. But no one answered my point that animals sleep and eat but recieve no benefit from it. Potions are not the only way to regain hitpoints. Just because I make these comments I am not knocking the game. I think it's great.

I think there is a more spectacular bug with healing than that. Some gate guards can not be killed - you shoot them with a bow or crossbow or finish them with a weapon, but next day they are on their feet with zero health and killing them again does not give any experience points.

*mild spoiler for unwary readers*

All the OC gate guards become mortal in the final chapter (if you care to return to do them in, that is) - meaning that they'll stay dead for good if you kill them.

Which makes Ian and Asghan the only immortal male OCers left. But then again, they're said to be dead, anyway - which I just don't believe, having seen Ian run from and Asghan after me like they did. Zombies just aren't this fast .

And both Ian and Asghan were far better looking than any zombies I met in this game...

I certainly agree with you on that.
