A question about Gothic I fanart or fan based comics |
|
Heya all.
Just arrived here, and my question is if there has been Gothic related fan art, stories or Comics yet, with decent quality? I'm interested into seeing what this great game has put forth to creative minds and talents around..
Thank you. _________________

Welcome.
We have our own fan area. Most other fan sites have wallpapers, at least one has short comic strips, another one has a winamp skin,... _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

True. I have just looked upon the fan stories, quite nice actually.
I haven't found any "comics" (for the use of a better english word, I'm more referring to Bandes desinee, styled somewhere within the lines of Thorgal or Aria) apart from the screenshot collections with text balloons teling some sort of a joke, ect ect... _________________

There was a German pre-release Gothic comic book. It was not fan art though, it was official... you might get it at Amazon.de (that was where I got it).
And thanks for the flowers, I'm always on the lookout for fanfic authors for the GothicDot fan area . You wouldn't be interested to write...? _________________ Jaz |

Well.. I can always try to see if I can compete with that official Comic book Anyway, how was it called presicely, (so I can find it on amazon.de :/ ) and are there samples - images of that comic book?
At least then I know then what I'm up against, ugh _________________

Look here for the Amazon.de page. You can also get a bigger picture of the cover. The artwork is not terrific but not bad either... if you want more pics for evaluation purposes, I made a scan of one page. I have it somewhere at home (I'm not there right now), so I might post it later on.
As for competing... go ahead, paint, draw, do whatever you like, I'm looking forward to publishing it here... _________________ Jaz |

Thanks for your input there Jaz
I'll be looking foreward to the scanned page, judging from the cover the comic seems to be Professional work indeed, somewhat into the direction of American Comics we all know. I can't say I have the potential to be better (not) or worse than that - my "comic art" work has always been a wee bit different to what the usual comics do.
Anyway
I'll do my best into creating something good, and fresh to the fanart/comics for Gothic..
not Gothic - fantasy related, showing some of my previous work:
Hope this style will be ok for a Gothic comic _________________

Thanks for the scan
style wise it looks like a "classic" comic altough it has clear line techniques in there as well. Colour wise and the way certain figures stand or are anatomical portrayed is according to the classical comic guidelines we know from American comics.
That image with the butterfly is nice.. _________________

Well yes, it's not Image Comics quality . The coloring is mediocre at best. But I'm still glad I bought it as it answers a few Gothic questions... at least it tells Milten's pre-barrier story. _________________ Jaz |

Been working around the clock to have something presentable..
anyway, here are two scetches, one pretty much final, (the fort) and the other is a work in progress drawing. Within the story I will try to put an emphasis on grimness and desolation a bit, because that suits the story (in progress atm) the best.
This will not be the "usual" type of comic.. or at least that's my intention: to create a fan based comic that hasn't been done yet. _________________
