Read-Only

I have a cd with a mpg file on it that I want to copy to my friends hard drive. The only problem is, the file has its attributes set as 'read-only' Is there anyway to copy a read-only file from a cd? Perhpas it would work in win98 or DOS? Right now my friends running windows xp pro. When I try to copy the file, it gets to about 95% then gives me a DOS error. I remember I burnt this file on my computer with nero on Win XP. I did not change the file to read-only. For some reason, XP or nero set it that way. Any ideas on how I can prevent this from ever happening again? Thanks vey much for any help.

You just have a corrupt file or a bad Cd/DVD reader. You can copy read only files. There is no reason you can't. The read only tag does not disable copyig

Jeez what a fool I am. Just tried another mpg file from another cd. Was also read-only. Copied just fine. Now I just cleaned the troubled cd with a cloth and now shes copying just fine. Any idea why WinXP or Nero set it as read only after copying to a cd? Whats the point of that? Also, I notice that when I backup files to cd using Nero, the file names always end up with capital letters. Anyway to keep it at lower case?

You can't erase a file from a cd so it makes sense that it's attribute is set to read-only.
