I get by soulgems stolen

I really tend to think that NPC steal soulgems.
It happened 2 or 3 times so far. I need a soulgem so I go through my inventory and all my soulgems are gone!

Is it a bug or normal?

Did you steal the soul gems in the first place? I had a nice Full face ebony helm from a treasury in Vivec and the teleportation ring from a plugin. They disapeared after I killed the Comona Tong (I think) in Balmora. I reloaded and the same thing happened. Eventually I figured that when I paid my fine to the guard these items were being removed from my inventory.

All of my petty soul gems disappeared. A stack of 9 empty ones plus 4 with souls trapped inside. All gone. I didn't notice until it was too late. I think it was probably when I visited Vivec and had to pay a big , whopping fine of 5 gold. I am sure I didn't steal all those soul gems. Oh well , one day I will return and kick some Ordinator butt and as they fall one by one I will taunt them with "remember my soul gems? , I sure do and it's time for you to pay up!"

you're right. Some were stolen. I guess that when you get caught looting around, guards might take your soulgems.

HMm.. I guess it's better to steal and use them quick then

Stolen items

It appears that the game treats all items of one type alike (it does not appear to differentiate between similar items). So, if you stole one type of soul gem (for example) or sword the guards will take all of that type of item away from you when you pay a fine (even though the message doesn't say so). I have been testing a bit with my thief character who lost numerous items in this manner. So, it appears you MUST be very careful and drop all items that MIGHT be similar to a stolen item (even if they are not the specific stolen item) before encountering a guard. That way all you lose is the fine money - then go pick up your items after the fine is paid.

They probably have them locked in a box somewhere back in vivec...so you could one day get them back

Ahha. That reminds me. Earlier in the game I saw a chest marked "Evidence" somewhere, don't remeber where. I checked it and it was empty. Is this where they would put the stolen items they take from you?

It can tell the difference if you stole 3 out of the 6 you might have. But they will take what they want when you get caught or pay a fine.

You never have to pay a fine if you taunt them first.

You all should know not speak to guards when you have a bounty on your h34d!!!
