Can't Use Take Trophies Ability

I receive the Take Trophies ability from Bosper but when I meet and kill the two young wolfs just outside the walls of the city I cant seem to skin them. I stand over their bodies and try a dagger but nothing happens. I'm new to Gothic 2 and love the game so far, can anyone help with this? Thanks!!

Just use the action command key on them to open the inventory screen on the screen you can take the skin of the dead wolf
