Dungeon Siege 2: First Reviews @ GamePro & GameZone

(Two of) The first reviews of 'Dungeon Siege II' are up at GamePro (4.5/5) and GameZone (8.3/10). Here's a snip from the latter...
No one said the life of a mercenary would be easy. And when money is involved, there is no telling whom you will be working for or what their motives may be … unless, of course, all you have to do is open your eyes and look around.

Unfortunately, the lead character (you) in Dungeon Siege II is ignorant of all the signs pointing at either him or her. The fact that you are killing everything in your path en route to a temple (and most of what you are killing are dryads), while being insulted by warped, raspy-voiced monsters who treat you as chattel rather than swords for hire should be one thing that makes you think something is amiss.

Gamepro:

This formula may be simple, but judging by the sheer number of Diablo clones on the market, it works. PC players have Nox, Arcanum, Sacred, and most recently, Divine Divinity (what a name!). And, of course, Dungeon Siege.

Arcanum? A Diablo clone?

Besides, Divine Divinity is older than Sacred. GamePro's review is a bullshit.

I must say that i was never a maniacal fan of Diablo 2. I admit it's a great game and it inspired many other "clones" but i found it rather boring and repetetive after a couple of hours. IMHO, i think Diablo 2 is overrated *dons asbestos coat*

I recently plaeyd the DS2 demo and holy cow, it rocked! I must say it's an improvement over DS in several orders of magnitude. Never got boring for me at all despite the fact that it was basically running around, killing enemies, collecting loot, etc.

As for the GamePro review, the author smacks of too much Diablo fanboyism to review or rather sneak preview DS2 objectively.

Just my 2 cents so please consider that right before you diablo fans attack me

There's alot of fanboyism indeed. Why Diablo 2 is considered to be a great game is because of the hype around it and because diablo 2 is mostly moddable. Dungeon siege 2 takes everything what Diablo 2 does 5 steps forward, seriously...

Although the engine itself was a little bit poorly created, they made it work pretty slow even though the changes to the graphics are not that big, and the game requires Twice/Three times as much ram as DS1 had. My computer cant really handle Dungeon Siege 2.

But overall, its a nice game.
Think it would deserve a much bigger score/rating...
