can you increase viewing distance even further?

I have the game running very smoothly with everything maxed out. Is it possible to increase the viewing distance even further to reduce the fogging?

tfow

Fog of war is on the map..like when your local and you haven't explored an area so its all black, thats fog of war, turning it off will only help on the map.

That is true Stiler, thanks for correcting me.

Then I do not know any other command to remove fog covering world and let you see more.

If you removed the fog completely you will not be able to play at all, the card would have to render everything visibile (which when outside, would be a whole lot). That's why there is always fog. I don't think the viewing distance can be increased past what you can set it to in the options menu.

It is not possible. Original poster, can you do me a favor and post a screenshot of somewhere OUTSIDE with FPS turned on? I want to know what kind of framerate you are getting.

The problem is not the fog. The problem is that the fog is a greyish brown color that makes everywhere look like the desert. The fog SHOULD be blue, just like when painters use aerial perspective. The air itself has a slightly bluish hue (not sure if it's for the same reason that the sky is blue). Anyway, is it possible to change the color of the fog?

If you could remove all the fog it would be excellent. Especially if you could have a telescope and see what people are doing from a far off distance. Maybe this could work in the game any way. *ponders this possibility*

Ponder it all you want. It won't work (with MW at least). Removing all the fog would mean either forcing the video card to render everything visable (which no video card would be able to do in the outdoor scenes) or the scene would simpley go blank for objects further than MAX_DISTANCE. I perfer the fog.

There are some tricks, like reducing polygon count for distant objects until they become nothing but 2D sprites, but now we're no longer talking about MW's engine.

Well could it be possible to do something like set a telescope in a certain direction and at a certain focus level to see what is there? Like set the telescope north by northwest at medium resolution and look in the telescope.
