Well done XeroX, and thanks for the assist Dhruin.

@Sherrin- Since you haven't returned yet, I'm guessing things went well. The only thing I would have added to XeroX's instructions is that you might get a warning message as the game starts up which will ask you if you want to continue the executable. Continue away. We can make that message go away, but that's a rather involved process requiring the Construction Set. As for me, they say age is a state of mind- these days, that makes me about 80.

Weeyhheyyy. I did all that, now I just have to head back to Balmora and see if Zed's there.
Thanx HEAPS you guys I REALLY appreciate your help. I presume this's how you install all mods?
Btw, Do you happen to know if I uninstall 'Tribunal' will the Dark Assassins go away? I know they're good practise - not to mention a good suppy of weapons and armour - but they've worn their welcome out. I've started another thread - about loosing some stuff when I went to Mournhold and until that's sorted I want to get rid of the prats.

The unbalancing factor of great wealth is in the enchantments you can buy with it. I enchanted a full set of chameleon armor, then had to dump it 'cos I became a god. (I didn't use mods, just spent a lot of time trading... what a waste of time!)

OK, What does enchanting actually do? I know you pay an 'Enachanter' to do it for you (or if you're gifted enuf do it yourself), but what's the advantage of enchanting things? Aren't the things with blue circle things around them 'enchanted'?
Please explain. And what's the difference between 'enchanted' and 'bound'. If there is a difference what's a 'bound' item actually do?
You can tell I'm new to this can't you, lol.

I can't help you with bound having never done it (I believe it just means a summoned item that is of high quality and light weight and might come with a skill bonus, but I'll let the experts handle that),

Some of the advantages to enchanted items are:

1. It costs you no mana to cast. So a lousy fighter type with just 30 mana could have a ring of levitate (usually costs 45 mana) enchanted allowing him/her to cast the spell.
2. The spell works 100% of the time.
3. It can be used to increase weapon damage. My fav weapon was a Daedric Katana that did 40-70 cold damage on each hit. I saved it's charges for those moments when you look at the army running at you and think "Oh S**T!". Otherwise the game was just too easy.

I am sure the experts have other wonderful uses for enchanting, but I played as "In your face" fighter type - who could heal anything (except death ... I never did figure that one out ).

Okay I know this is a double post, but I wanted to draw attention to it.

So where does one find the talking mud crab? I never found him, and my son thinks it would be cool to visit him.

I've not visited him myself as I downloaded the Mod "Zed the merchant" instead. He always has 1000000 to spend.
However, the mudcrab;

He lives on an island in the Ascadian Isles. To find him take out the map you got with the game and locate Suran. To the southeast there is an island with the Dwemer ruins, Mzahnch, on it. Just off the coast of this island is another island --and it is that island where you will find the mudcrab wandering around. IMPORTANT: Be careful you don't accidentally kill him -- he looks like and is labeled like any other mudcrab. The only difference is that he won't attack and a dialogue box will pop up when you select him.

A very useful site to find anything and everyone.

"Zed - the Merchant" mod can be downloaded as per the instructions in this thread.

Thanks Sherrin. My ex won't allow my son to download stuff, so this will help him.

I use soul gems to balance out the lack of money and if you go to Creeper it isn't that bad. It allows you to get full value for your expensive items without using mods (which always seem to spell disaster for me).

I'd not had any experience with mods, but I'd heard bad stories about them. However, I was willing to give "Zed the Merchant" a go, coz I wasn't going to sel something worth, say, 40000 to Creeper for 5000. It worked well for me, no problems at all.
However, I found that you simply don't need money after a while. You can only pay for so much 'training' and apart from the occasional night at the hotel across from Creeper what else do you need money for?
Oh, you may need a bit if you're going to build your Strong-hold. But that's it.
After I reached 200000 I stopped picking things up to sell. I'd only pick things up if I wanted to replace my own gear, but I had excellent armour and weapons by then anyway.

Oh, I definitely agree with that! After you've maxed everything out money is a non-issue completely!

Yeah, I stopped worrying about money when I got to about 40k. I managed to burn myself down to about 20k with training costs at one point, but somehow the total crept up again.

PS - Hey Gig, was that a smilie?
