(Un-)Colored switches near 1st temple room

I cleared the first temple room (with the skeletons, skeleton mage, and the statue above the painting with the orange, white, and purple symbols). I went into the room to the left, by pressing the switch. I killed the two skeletons, pressed their two switches, and killed the third skeleton.
Now I am in the room with the three switches that look like good-sized boulders. When I read the FAQ, it said to select the colored switches in the orange, white, and purple order, but the switches all look the same grey color to me.

Any hints for someone desperate?
