AC2: Server Consolidation Plans

I don't think it really comes as a surprise for those who have been playing AC2 lately or who have been watching the player statistics of it. Turbine announced today that they'll be transferring all characters from all the remaining game worlds to two new worlds during the august episode patch. The overall plan is consolidate from the current nine worlds to a total of four worlds. Darktide and the current consolidated Coldeve/Snowreap will remain untouched as two of those worlds. Sort of a sad thing to have to read. I enjoyed AC2 during its beta, but I knew it was too oversimplified of a gaming experience for me to play for long.

Its called competion

You will find this in every game now. If EQ were to shutdown only a % of thier players would go to EQ2. Rest would go to other MPGs.

In fact based on the disappointing SWG startup EQ2 might be a big mistake. If people switch from EQ to EQ2 and don't like it they may head for other pastures rather then back to EQ.

Most people only have time for one game.

Personally I think most of these games are heading in the wrong direction. AC and AC2 Patron system was good, Shadowbanes political system is very good. If you were to combine Shadowbanes political system with the content of EQ or AC's you may have a big winner.

Similarly if you combined the land movement of SWG with the space movement of Earth and Beyond you would have an immensely enjoyable game instead of two disappointing half-games.
