I haven't really gotten very far in advancement. I believe that in the Legion, as you advance, they give you better armor. So far, as a fighter, the only thing I've noticed is that they pay me more money as I go up.

The game could have someting to develop here.

I am a guild leader of mages guild, and people just act like I'd be a normal member of the guild with decent reputation.

However, I am kind of glad that the game allows me to become a leader of any guild (and I belive, any HOUSE too).

I love the legion. Every level you get something new so far. They have some of the best looking armor too (ok, ok... I've got a soft spot for armor from the movie Gladiator). I've found better armor, sure... but I'm proud of my status in the legion and wait to earn it instead of buy it. ANd I don't take it off. I'm a Knight Bachelor of the Imperial Legion, and I'm damned proud of it in character.

Yes, We all know how great Legion is.

What other benefits do you get from guild/House?
I recall hearing someone mention Strongholds, whatever they are.

if any of you buy training in skills the higher your rank in a guild the less it costs to train and the more trainers are open to you.

I had no idea how good the legion was. I'm now the Knight of the Imperial Dragon... which is cool in itself. The final 'stuff' you get is... uh...

IN-*bleep*-SANE! I'd feel bad using them if it weren't for the fact that they were used against me several times during the course of high advancement... I paid for those things with blood and reloads dammit.

Not going to spoil anything beyond that teeny weeny one.

THere are other benefits to advancement. As mentioned it affects your rep with your guild, which helps for selling and buying things... but not only that, it affects your reputation with OTHER guilds to some degree as well. As Knight of the Imperial Dragon, the most exalted warrior rank in Morrowind (according to the Empire), the other imperial groups and the fighters guild have NOTHING but respect for me.

I'm playing a paladin with a 93 unmodified personality at level 9 (could have been a hundred had I not gotten so lost in the ashlands that I went up two combat-only levels. No x5 multipliers there... x3 strength, x2 endurance, x2 agil each time... woo!) everyone liked me anyways.

Most people have answered but I will just reiterate what they said. Mainly it opens more trainers of that guild to you, and also more quests (where you do get items) etc.
