mookmaster - the site must be down, I can't get there either right now.
Just talked to the lead developer today so I'm sure its just some tech issue. I'll try tommorrow and post when its up. _________________ "For Innos!" |

Yep. I've got the same problem. Pity. Sounds like a good game and a good site. _________________ "To Serve Man" is a cook book! |

The site must have gone done or something, maybe they are now rebuilding things. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

OK, So I talked to Vlad again at UDC about the website. Yesterday when I was trying to get a game status they said there ran into a few "problems" but the game was still a go. Today he said, if I understand his english, those "problems" were also responsible for the website outage.
He said the outage would last 1-2 days.
Smells like a publisher problem, but that is total conjecture so don't run with that. The game must be very well along at this point based on the AVI trailer which itself is a few months old, so I still have faith the game is moving forward. _________________ "For Innos!" |

I am an admitted Gothic Fan. I described it to my brother when I first played Gothic I by saying how Gothic made me feel. It has this Feeling of reality and it somehow moves me. When I am in combat I actually fear Death! I'm not like I am on most other RPGs where I'm just like oh well I'm dead what a bummer... I guess I have to re-load now. And I felt like I really cared about certain NPCs. I know its crazy but hey thats obsession for you! It was very cool to find this Forum and realize that I was not the only one who felt like this about Gothic. Definately the best game ever made. I think it would take a lot to supplant its #1 status in my book, but hey I won't argue if someone ever does! We need more supernaly awesome videogames! _________________ Ben Shaffer |

Gothic has a heart. this game is undescribeable and uncomparable.

Without knowing anything about the story or actual gameplay, all i can say that this UDC didn't drop my jaw.Surely the trailer was released long ago, so it is not hard to belive that dev-team have done some serious progress.Still this is the most recent video from their game, there is nothing else to compare..
So lets begin, shall we.From the craphical standpoint game looks a bit rough, mainly the houses from inside. The outside scenery however is quite beautifull, i really love the way they made the grass:).The character animation seems a little stiff and the models grieve for more detail.Lightning will defiently need some work, particuraly the lightining during the day on that city. Some of the textures had hard time convincing with their beautiness. What comes to world dynamics, i saw none.Everything felt really static.Maeby because this was a tech demo more than a real trailer.
But the good points: fighting system seemed quite neat and realistic(a bit similar to gothic, die by the sword or bod, which is good).Overall feeling that the trailer left was somewhat mystic and the perishableness of life was allways present.Hard to describe really what i mean, but the world felt like it was doomed/cursed somehow.I'll hope they put some cool horror elements on it .Timeframe was also dear to me..midle-age, whee!
I'll hope all the best for this game, as it aroused a bit of interest and excitement.Shame that the website ain't working at the moment.
ToddMcF2002, do you know, if there is any demo coming in the future? _________________ The focused mind can pierce through stone |

I don't know more than I've reported I'm afraid.
The AVI was ingame but the world was not populated according to UDC - really a tech demo. I honestly thought the graphics were about equal to G2 including the models. Some of the enemy animations looked incomplete though - in the combat sequences.
We can always use another contender so heres to hoping for the game. Especially now that I'm starting to fear that Dungeon Lords will end up being a bit too "Action Packed" for my tastes. I bought DemonStone PC and instantly regretted it - total arcade game. _________________ "For Innos!" |

You forget the G2 is already from 2002-03 (german release), for a new game that will be released in 2005 the graphics should be a lot better. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

G2 blows away the graphics of most games made today once you consider the draw distances. Half Life and Doom 3 really don't impress me - lots of detail in (relatively) confined areas? G2 is pretty amazing frankly.
In fact, ever since Blade Of Darkness came out I've started thinking the foriegn games are simply better - depth of complexity, technically etc. I guess the producers have less of a meddling hand in development. Especially in innovation - Arx Fatalis anyone? Gothic?
Only Bethesda breaks the mold in my opinion. Not yet a true Morrowind lover, but I can't discount the game's technical or innovative attributes.
Gothic 2 is the most impressive game I've ever played however. Bioware is out to lunch technically. _________________ "For Innos!" |

U.S., Canadian and Japanese companies usually have better funding so developers can spend more money on things like graphics engine and visuals. Euro game industry, on the other hand, is not that big; generally it's not regarded as one of the more profitable branches - so the devs often must do with relatively little money... thus concentrating on gameplay and other 'cheaper' factors is paramount if they want to compete. _________________ Jaz |

I'm having trouble accepting that Gothic 2 and Arx Fatalis are budget titles. If they are, thats pretty incredible. _________________ "For Innos!" |
