No, it's not.. reading fantasy in Norwegian and in German is not as great as reading it in English; the vucabulary of Norwegian and German is 1/3 of the English due to the fact that English is a mixture of languages(German, French and so on). There are words in English which can only be described with sentences in Norwegian and German, so I still feel English is the #1 language for litterature like fantasy(a lot of the words within the fantasy genre cannot be translated properly).

Yes it is...

It doesnt matter what language is the best for fantasy in general. If the author/developer is for example Norwegian, then his work is best read in norwegian, any translation of his work will undoubtly contain missunderstandings and misstakes and wont come out like the author/developer intended it to come out.

Of course in Gothics case the developers are involved in the translation and Im sure they are skilled enough in english to make it come out good. But I still say the original language is the best.

I'll compare the Gothic II Demo with the English subtitles and German voice to the final English version, and let you know then.

However, doing a not-exactly-equal comparison, I think I liked the voice acting from the GII demo better than Gothic; it was much easier to pick up on the emotions and tone of what was being said with the original German; in the English version, there were a few times where the inflection didn't match the meaning of what was being said.

i think german is better. when translated into english, they over exagerate the voices when they talk. i have the g2 demo with english subtitle translation. it sounds much more lively.

My vote is: 3) I don't know

The English version isn't released yet, so how can I decide when I haven't heard of anything English in the game?

Agreed. Although I must admit that a game is usually better in it's original language.

PS- I'm really surprised that there's not an English Version Demo out yet!

I've played many games many times and I'll say it now that the original language suits the game best...

Translated versions seem to have a tendency to lose the sync between the lines.

personally, i dont think english is a very good language, the only people in the world that think it's good are germans and norwegians. However, since i speak english better than any other language, I'd still have to say english

I think english is a good language, it's quite easy to learn compared to Spanish or Swedish.

I think it would be a good idea to have the game in both languages. It'd be great if there was an option in the game that let it switch between German and English voices and switch between German and English Subtitles. If ever I play a game and can have the voicing in a different language, I do it. It adds a certain, mystery-like effect to it.
