tastes are relative, i finished the game on the 1.3 patch, and personally enjoyed the whole experience much more then the one hour i (loathingly) spent on a friend's SWKOTOR2. to me whatever polish SWKOTOR2 had didn't matter as i coudln't stand the story/atmosphere. as rought as DL was, it was at least something unique. they did screw their customers no doubt, but i think if one was old enough not to be wearing a diaper anymore (or act like it) one would have found it to be a mildly entertaining game.
I got about a third of the way through and decided to put the game down for a while. I too was a big fan of the game, warts and all. But if patch 4 fixes the character creation issue and fills in the world with more people and maybe a few side quests then that would add this game back in my soon to be played queue. |

I only had two really big problems with the game. First of all, was the lack of "Atmosphere" in the towns. Not just Arinvale, but also that monster town you get to right before the Naga Dungeon. What, 10 houses and 8 are completely empty??
My other problem, one that no patch can fix, was the loooooooooooong foot travel you'd have to do inbetween "areas". Morrowind remedied this by creating a very unique, ever-changing, always-fascinating landmass that was dripping with secrets grottos, rare items, and cool little pieces of geography every 5 feet. DL, however, is just one huge, flat, Dirt+Grass world. Ohhh...and every few seconds you are attacked by 17 wolves.
DL, to me, felt like it was a really poor indie RPG that someone cobbled together in their spare time. Even if it was, it still would have been laughable. |
