2 questions about Mushroom forest

(1) Can you kill the giant worm? I hacked at it with my slayer blade + fire balls for over 30 minutes (real time) and nothing happened. Has it got a
gazillion hit points or something? Hell, I even stood looking down it's mouth
and bashed it!

(2) How do you get to level 8? There is a ledge with a spider & web in it but
try as I might I can't run / jump / levitate up to it. How do you get up there?

1) The giant worm can indeed be killed. I personally used a bow and let it crawl close to me and then shoot!

2) To be honest I cannot quite recall where that bit is (ledge with the spider web)...
If you are looking to go down BELOW the level of the mushroom forest where you encountered the giant worm, then you have to kill that bastard to go down...

Thanks but...

I want to go UP to level 8 to get to the Dwarven section so I can make the
Ultimate weapon! How do I get from Level 7 to level 8?

PS I can't believe you killed the worm with a bow!

You have to kill the giant worm and then walk through his dead corpse to progress

Also, once you kill the worm you can get into that area you see with the spider web through another entrance.

The worm is definitely killable just strong: 200 hp and 40 AC

Walk past the work as soon as it withdraws to its original location. I assumed it was dead even though it still moved around in one location. Dont waste your mana. Note it does no damage when you get close after it withdraws. Rest of map is past this worm.

I found a couple of well placed fireballs killed it quite quickly.

Thank you...

... for your replies chaps. I will try walking past it to-night. What has confused me is that the worm has indeed withdrawn back to its original
position, but kept moving! It doesn't hit me any more but still lurches
backwards & fowards. I guess I must have killed it ages ago and not
realised. Just hope I can now walk past the damn 'moving corpse'.

I think once you hurt it enough it tries to retreat as much as it can, but you can still kill it for the XP (and a crappy sword if I remember correctly).

i too, dont know what the big deal is.... six poisoned arrows and it blew up like balloon between a kids legs... i thought it was a little too easy....

now if, when it explodes, it releases a couples lichies and their entourage of zombies, now thats a decent monster!

giant worm...same problem

Baraknul
I had the same problem you describe with the giant worm...after 45 min.I gave up and replayed from a saved game...the outcome was completely different...6 or 7 fireballs and a few hacks with a poisened blade and it exploded...I have learned my lesson...what a waste of time the first time around...but I thought it must have alot of hit points and in Arx there is no way of knowing how effective an attack is until its over...and I'm so thankful this one's over...just wanted to let you know I had encountered the same problem...

The Worm can be killed.

I think you have to hit it in the head. I hit it in the head several times with fireballs and arrows. After about 6 minutes it blew up.

Have fun.
