newbie question: can you change the controls ?? |
|
can you change the movement and turning controls??
I want to move forth and back with up/down key
and turn left/right with left/right key like in EVERY other 1st person RPG
I just can't get used to turning with my mouse only
sorry if I have overlooked how to change this |

It's under the options menu under control, just change the settings to what you want. _________________ 'nut |

i changed almost everything there.
I walk with the arrow keys and have the action buttons on my mouse
left= fighting
right= open things
middel(wheel)= open inventory
Sneak is near the arrow keys.
Aiming and holding down my bow and walking i can do at the same time. _________________ The original RED poster (retired now)

now...
I still have to turn by moving the mouse ?!?
left/right key on keyboard just makes me move to left or right without turning ! that's annoying!
you really can't change that? (I mean to move like in Wizardry Might&Magic etc.) |

Once you get used to the mouse look it is a definite advantage. I could never go back to the "arrows" way again.
I started with the mouse look back whith Quake I death match games. I used to always beat my friends at DM, but after a while my friends started killing me all the time. All of the sudden they seemed to have better reaction times. By the time I turned they were blasting me, running forwards and backwards and strafing, but always aimed right at me and blasting away. I finally just asked, "WTF"? And they were like, "How do you have your controls setup?" After the answer, Me: "Mouse look? What's that?"
Turns out mouse view is a definite advantage. After a day of mouse look play, I was back at the top of the frag game. There is no other way.
I have it set up with a four button infra mouse with scroll wheel, and I have all actions programmed into the number pad. I use the same config for every mouse look game and am quite proficient. 8 is up, 5 is back, 7 is jump, 9 is crouch, 4 and 6 is strafe left and right, etc etc etc _________________ T®îßã£Måñ

It's usefull to have the arrows left and right on strafe.
You walk left and right by using the mouse.
In combat u can strafe to the left and right without losing site of your enemy. _________________ The original RED poster (retired now)
