Almost every closed gate in Gothic has a storyline related purpose. Only try to open a gate if you have a quest telling you to explore this area!

ALLWAYS save your game in a different slot before you touch a winch! The most important bug in the German version was that some winches simply jammed when you tried to open them. This bug seems to experience a spectacular revival in the English version. So you should be able to reload if it strikes you.

There is some sort of automatic savegame fixing in this game. You might want to try the following things:
-reload
-save_in_new_slot then reload
-reboot then reload

Some gates/winches are intended to work exactly once. Again, donŽt spoil your chance, wait for the quest.

Others are jammed by default. You have to find another legal way to bypass them, in most cases with some magic.

You can cheat to pass a gate:
Open the status screen, type "marvin", close the status screen with the key you opened it with. Then the upper left corner of your screen should display "Marvin Mode".
Walk to the gate. Press K to teleport 2 meters forward.

Godmode:
Same as above. Type "guardian" instead of "marvin".

Wait a few minutes. IŽll update my post.

Activate Godmode before you try to hunt down the Crawler Queen. The cheat worked for somebody else an hour ago.

Do you have a relatively new savegame? Could be the better choice.

Everything worked great. I hunted down the queen, but spared her life assuming I would be rewared for either:

1. Being smart enough as to not kill the only source of minecrawler secretion.

2. Or for some spiritual reason of the brotherhood.

Well, when I got back it seems the invocation was ready and there would be no need for the Queen anymore. So, should I go back down there and get my 2000 exp points (yes, I saved and killed her for fun) or will she be needed later for some another invocation of the sleeper? Sorry for the long question.

go kill her! i had real trouble in this part because the templars that are there to help kill me whenever I pull out my sword to kill minecrawlers with them, so I decided to screw it and let them kill them all until they retreated to the entrance, really pissed me off!

There is a simple solution for the gate inside the Old Mine.
Open the console and type:
ztrigger evt_om_crawler_01

This should open the gate.

In all my research, I have not come accross ztrigger console commands. where did you find this and what does it do. Please note that I do not cheat in the game but, I have been using the console to translate a few things. Just curious here.

I found it on WorldofGothic.de, together with similar commands.
It should open the gate. Either directly or by activating the winch.

SPOILER Why use Godmode to kill the Queen crawler? Just change to a meatbug, travel to where she is, and change back. There are only three guards, and arrows kill the Queen.

You can then clean out the other minecrawlers on the way back, and Marvin out.

Good idea.
The godmode was meant for the crawlers behind the gate. You have no help from the templars if you beam through it. Once the entrance is cleared godmode is unnecessary.

typing in ztrigger was easy enough...

evt_om_crawler_01

is that an underscore? because I can't seem to type that into the console. dammit.
