For some reason after I got the list from the old mine I closed the mine gate, now I need to go back inside and kill the minecrawler's nest but the gate doesn't seem to open, anyway to open it again?

I'll hate to knwo that I have to restart the game *again* and get to where I am by just being New Camper (there's a part in the Rogue's test that is just annoying).

Outside the Old Mine in the huts to the right tehre is a lever, I sued it to close the Old Mine gate now I tried using it again but nothing happens.

Touching winches unless you need to is dangerous since this is what happens most of the time - the gates won't open afterwards. Yes, it's a bug.

Go into Marvin mode (type 'smarvins') and then 'k' (I believe). You ought to be teleport a few meters ahead, through the gate.

Heh. That's the bug that brought me to the boards. I was doing something childish (or Homer Simpsonish. Same thing. )... I was clicking on the winch repeatedly "Gate goes up. Gate goes down. Gate goes up. Gate goes down. Gate goes half way. Gate goes up. Gate goes down. Gate doesn't move... e ver again. D'OH!!!!"

marvin and k is your friend in this situation.

Marvin + k is an outdated method. In my thread in the tips&tricks forum you can find the console command to open the gate.

I just found a way to get past the closed gate without using any form of cheat. All you have to do is go to the edge of the gate so that you're as close to the ore nugget located on the other side of the gate as you can be. Make sure you have it targeted, then just do ctrl+up to start smashing away at it and voila, you've popped onto the other side of the gate. You need a pickaxe to do this though. Hopefully I'm not repeating something someone else found but I haven't seen any other references. Hope this helps people to keep their game cheat free (at least the first time through).
