Gothic is a amazing game. The first time I saw it on the shelves I picked it up and smirked and wondered who in the heck is Piranha Bytes. I put the game down and went on my way looking at other PC games.

The next day I saw a review from a online review site that gave it a so - so review. I usually dont give 80% reviews or lower the time of day but for some reason this one stuck out and I read it anyway.

The review spoke about the game having good graphics, a good story and good rpg elements but was plagued with poor play control. So I thought to myself. Its a rpg and with it having a good story and good rpg elements I figured I'd take the risk.

The next day I saw it on sale at Best Buy for $29.99 and picked it up and read the back once again, it looked too good, despite what the reviewer said I bought it.

I spent 3 hours fiddling with the controls. I could hardly kill a molerat and thought to myself, dang that reviewer was right about the control being ass backwards. In despair about the $30 I wasted, I deleted it from my HD.

I lay in bed that night wondering how could a developer make such a awesome game and yet have such horrible play control. I wanted to play it real bad. After seeing NPC's walking, cooking, talking, peeing in the corners, sitting down, doing what guards do. It made me want to play it even more. I had witnessed a experience in a rpg that I have never seen before.

The next day I reloaded the game and searched the web looking for whatever I could about the game and I came to this site. There was so much fan-fare about the game that I knew I had to give the controls another go. This time I used the mouse and remaped a few keys and bingo! I was finally able to control it well enough to play. (the control still sucks).

I(ranger) killed Lee, I had to. I saw that 2hnd axe on his back and knew it had to be elite, and it was, but was it worth the price I paid 12 hours later? I entered chapter 4 and the Saturn dude told me I had to speak with Lee. With my horror I knew Lee was dead. Sure enough Lee was nowhere to be seen. I looked all over the new camp even the freemine and he was nowhere.

I like games to have lots of freedom but not at the price of having to back track 12 hours. It would have been nice if NPC's that were needed later to complete the game would not be killable. I see this as a flaw. Games have to have some form of idiot(me)-proof to them. Some of the NPC's are unkillable. Like Lester who I dragged around with me from the mountain ruins over to the orcs and watched him kill groups of orc warriors while I earned the exp.

Im the kind of gamer who wants to do everything systematically and going back 12 hours kind of ruins that for me. So I figured I would have to restart. I came to this site today and noticed the walkthrough and the SAVE GAME file! That was exactly what I needed.

I had not yet registered to this forum because I figured I would never post to it, but because of my gratitude to JemyM and RPGDot I figured I'd had better register and say THANKYOU. You should be paid for that work you have done. So at least I can say thankyou.

Rend found the right words.

Let me add that feedback means a lot to people working on a site. Most readers only consume the material but donīt take the time to respond. We need feedback to improve.

You can continue your old game. This is the cheat to insert Lee:
insert sld_700_lee

JemyMīs save turned out to be buggy. You are attacked as soon as you meet Lares. JemyM is still looking into it, but we donīt have much hope.

Arrgh,

For some reason I cannot get the _ part in the cheat. I push the key but it wont show. Insert sld_700_lee. I was able to produce his axe by just inserting lee. I dont understand why my_ doesnt work in console mode.
