I've just started playing, & have started experiencing a problem that wasn't there initially... Conversations have an echo effect (If you know what I mean)
The only changes I made in the game were the bikini & gore alterations, & changing antialiasing to 2xFS

System -AMD 450
128 mg
VooDoo 5500
generic essolo sound card (DCS S819)
I started playing @ 1024 x 768 x 32
& reduced this to 800 x 600 x 16 & cut music to hopefully reduce the annoying lagtime in conversations, but only incurred the more annoying hiccup effect. Also is there any way of eliminating the seemingly usely background chatter?
Thanx,

Alan

I think itīs an overall performance problem.

This is from PBīs FAQ:
quote:

The music stutters and sometimes stops, which often leads to the whole game jolting.

The DirectMusic system that Gothic employs generates the music in real time using a large variety of combinations. These are mixed to create the music track, a process that is ideally hardware supported (i.e. supported by the sound card). The currently available sound cards (e.g. Sound Blaster Live)are capable of mixing a sufficient amount of voices, whereas older cards may not have a sufficient range available. In this case, the CPU will have to do the mixing, which slows the game down. In the worst case, the CPU may be so busy with the music (if the sound card is incapable of dealing with it) that the game may become completely stuck. The only thing you can do about that is to
purchase a later sound card or deactivate the music in Gothic's Audio menu.

Try to disable FSAA and set scalevideos=0 in the gothic.ini. This should also fix the video issues but save some performance.

However, I think your machine is simply not fast enough.
