Irth Online: Wrap Report @ RPG Vault

Magic Hat's Lead Developer Tony Pungitore shares some insights into Irth Online with RPG Vault.
The Project

Irth Online is a skill-based 3D fantasy MMORPG. The basic premise integrates four different civilizations with deep-rooted ideological disparities, all pursuing world domination. This stems from an ancient plague that separated one united civilization into four distinct groups. Each now holds the others in contempt. Through the crisis and devastation of the plague, three fields of reactionary thought arose: (1) Stay true to the king (the Arcadian civilization), 2) Stay true to divine authority (Mezotek) and (3) Stay true to Shantimar, the first of the exiled plague victims (Morbus). These civilizations are PvP and seek dominance through combat and conquest. The fourth nation, Avaria is non-PvP. It is made up of immigrants from the other three civilizations, and focuses on economic might.

Irth Online is filled with intricate details, more than competitive products. We had decided to develop it primarily because we could. We had the aptitude, capability and will. We love MMORPGs and wanted a return to some of the basic formats, features and intricacies the original MMOs had that made them so great, and at the same time, add in our own uniqueness to create something truly special. Basically, we decided to develop it because we wanted to play it.
