Not worthy to join the paladins yet

Or so Lord Hagen said. I've just came back from the Valley of Mines, so I'm at the beginning of the 3rd Chapter. I'm lvl 21, so exp lvl couldnt be the problem. Is it too early in the game and I must complete a number of quest or is it because I didnt invest LP in magic at all, my current circle is 0?
I'm master in 1handed weapons and I cant find someone to train me further, I have alot of available LP, 40 or so. have I gone too fast, and now I must wait until a paladin would train me? or must I invest in magic in order to get accepted as a paladin?

You get to join them after you find out the real murderer of Lothar. Or, rather, find out that they have a wrong man accused in it, and free him, and point out the real culprit. After that, you can join them. Hint - mercenary smith is wrongly accused

ok thanx.
so I must let time take care of this.
I imagine Hagen or Andre will take some minutes to explain to me all about this Lothar guy, cos they didnt mention him yet. I'll just get back to my quest, be good, go to the monastery, talk to the guy in charge there, and then maybe then they're gonna change their mind about me being unworthy.

They never talked to me about it until I asked them. Better go to Onar's farm and talk to Lee.

As strange as it might seem to me, I'll go there on my way to the monastery.
thanx.

thanx evryone for the answers.
It wasnt necessary to go to Onar's as I figured, I solved the quest without leaving Khorinis.
I already met Pepe, I took care of Bullco for him, but why should I buy a sheep from him, I dont need it.
mythic dude thanx for your support
