I like it... I was going to deliver the Bowl (Pelaglad area quest, you know which one... I know that you do ) back to its owner, when I stumbled on a bandit cave... naturally I spent another half of a half hour clearing it, looking through loot takes me a long time . Then I delivered the bowl, but only after I got lost (With both the strategy guide, and the big map in hand)! and wound up next to the master of the Destruction skill, so I filled up on that, just a bit .

Ok, I delivered the bowl, now what? I decided to walk back, as I was unsure as to where a DI or AI scroll would take me... I may have even ended up farther away than Ft. Moonmooth (sp?) Well, what did I see?

Another cave! Ohh, what fun, killing bandits and Dreugh. Wait a minute! What's in those containers? "Raw Ebony" "Value: 200" "Weight: 10.0" D'oh! I had filled up on many good items, and my greed could not overcome my Encumberment. Also, I had heard somewhere that Raw Ebony trade is illegal. It would really suck if I had to drop all of my legal goods to cart these six blocks home (my Mark spell was last cast in the Mages Guild in Sandrith Mora), only to find out that only one or two people in the game will buy it from me.

What to do? I wrote down the cave that I was in, so that I would know where to go the next time I have 50 (kg's?) of free weight. Wait a second. I said there were 6 blocks of Ebony? Oh, that's right... I took one with me so that I could see if selling it to anyone was possible. So, I set out for Balmora.

I found that I could sell ebony to most anyone, it was just the 50 + units of Moon Sugar I found while stealing from (and beating up two Orc inhabitants of) a large plantation on the way back. Holy Crap. I have spent two and a half hours doing something that sprung from one quest, and I haven't even helped Rollie to Vivec yet. Oh, that's why I was in the area at the time... (I really did forget, when the Ebony issue came up) I was collecting books for Dremvanni (sp?) two were found in Balmora, but the third is only to be seen and bought/stolen (excluding caves, etc.) in the Rare Book Store of Vivec.

Oh, sorry... rant. Now to scold you for saying Morrowind is small. (Read above)

Return the game.

Better yet... add more islands. The island cells are nearly unlimited they claim. More dungeons. More quests. More NPCs.

Please?

You people take things wayt oo far. I say it's small and all of a sudden that means I don't like the game? What? "Morrowind is small" means exactly that.

Means exactly that you have no clue what you're talking about.

The only way it's "small" is if you use a speed cheat to move around, or if you use boat/stilt rider services to travel EVERYWHERE and then use the cheat guide to know exactly where the quest locations are.

Sorry. Standard policy on my part. If I don't like something about a game I take it back if I can get my money back or sell it online or something if I can't.

It's really not small compared to any other CRPG that is NOT a MMORPG I've ever played. It's not small compared to BG2. It's not small compared to any of the SSI gold box games, or any of the Ultimas, or any of the Fallouts, or Torment, or any of the Phantisies, or Tunnels and Trolls, or Gothic, or Pools of Radiance 2, or any of the Wizardries (though there are so many long fights in Wiz 8 that it FEELS larger than Morrowind), or Dungeon Siege, or Diablo 1 or 2 or any of the Dark Suns or Ravenlofts.

Perhaps there is a much larger single player game out there. I've played about a hundred CRPGs but there are a lot more... our database here has 400 some. If there is... tell me what it is so I can try and nab it and give it a shot. And if it IS larger does it feel 'empty'?

Are you having "fun"? Small & large are irrelevant when evaluating a game.

I think the MW world is pretty huge. What I don't think is huge are the dungeons..I still have not seen and dungeon that was much bigger than Balmora..if even that big..

I wish the dungeons were huge like In the Might and Magic games...then again maybe I just havn't seen any yet..

I guess you haven't heard of the place that has a level 80 lock on the door... and about 10 flights of monster filled stairs down to an underground boat-tomb.

The dungeons should be bigger, but i thought the game was huge,

It is in many ways larger than Daggerfall (4 square kilometers repeated five hundred thousand times,)

Fallout 2 was pretty big tho, but your actions in one town didn't have a huge effect on the next one

Okay, some worlds in other RPG games might be bigger. But can you explore every inche of it? NO. In most of them you just travell between towns and places. But, its fun with big worlds. Like in Arcanum, but it did not have alot of places to visit.

Comparing AO and DAOC too is fairly naive as the entirety of DAOC could fit into just one of AO's zones. However, that's good for a mmorpg, and slightly bad in the case of Morrowind.

Mostly because Morrowind is fairly "short" - don't get me wrong, but the balance between stuff to do, landmass and level is way out of touch I think. My first char would explore the land, visit dungeons and the like in the wild, and thus leveled up pretty fast - only to discover that a pile of "mission objects" of no use and disabled quests later on. My second try around did no exploration at all outside being given a mission to do so - ie, no visits to ANY dungeon or killing of mobs without being told to for some reward. And still, with my second character, I have one main ability short of 100, level 55 or so, quite unkillable by anything, and at this point have maybe covered 20% of the mapsquares and just visited the Ashlanders for the first time. I don't even think that's out of the ordinary.

If there was "more to do", a reason to grow further to best some hard monsters, I would, but right now that's more than half of the story, and more than 80% of the world of Morrowing just sitting there untouched because there really isn't any incentive to go see it for anything but exploration purposes.

Morrowind is small?

My god man! Every inch of that space was hand crafted! The results are so impressive that I often find myself running up to something just to STARE at it. If it's raining and I'm near water, I'll play in it until the rain stops! I wander the ocean's briny deep staring down at the level of effort people have put into it.

Being a detail oriented person, I have value level of effort in a game and the effort put forth by the designers and artists across Morrowind is UNFATHOMABLE. You absolutely MUST include complexity when you judge the size of Morrowind's landmass. Clearly, had they halved the effort put into detail and used that manpower to double the size of the world, would that change your mind or would it still be small? Would we all be as pleased with the results?

I'm ecstatic the world is as large as it is with the detail provided!

The world is large enough that I refuse to walk most times and spend a fortune travelling on siltstriders.

Do I want larger dungeons? YES! (Tear it up mod-makers!)
Is Morrowind small? NO!

From a physical standpoint the morrowind world is merely "large" However from a content viewpoint it is "ridiculously huge"

30 unique cities with lots of interesting things to do. 3 great houses. Many guilds. Factions. Random quests. Etc.
