NPC Health Bar, what do you think?

I love the NPC health bar. It makes all the difference in the world to me when it comes to choosing how to attack. I was fighting some tomb baddies and noticed my lightning and frost attacks were having very little effect. I switched to a fire-based spell and took the creature out in two attacks. This probably saved 80-100 pts of magicka for me. I was able to finish the whole dungeon without replenishing my magicka!

I still haven't gotten used to it myself. The first time I saw it I thought it was my own and was like, "Woah, what the hell! Am I losing my first battle since level 20?!". But I wasn't.

Will be fun to see what the game can do with the difficulty setting on max.

I really like it as well. It's not obstrusive, and it provides feedback that my character would be able to perceive.

I finally realized that my standard Cliff Racers Must Die spell was reducing them to almost no HP...bumped the damage up slightly and now it's much more efficient.

patch

Has anyone noticed if increasing the difficulty levels increases the amount of difficulty in raising abilities? I think I should have to hit a ton of times to raise my sword skill from 60 to 70 for instance. Maybe the bar has increased from n/10 to n/20 or n/30 to raise a skill.

Yup, great addition. Now I now that my lvl9 thief has no chance vs that annoying Dremora or something thing. And it works on the EU version too! Long live us Europeans:)

Hmmm... I guess I have been out of the "new patch" loop. I will download that bad boy tonight when I get off work (yes, I'm supposed to be working now...) and let you know what I think.

crpgnut -- No, the difficulty slider doesn't effect your skills. It effects damage done by you and enemies. Set the slider at -100 (easy mode) and you do x5 damage and mosters do 1/5. Switch to +100 (hard mode) and you do 1/5 and monsters do x5. Those crabs in the beginning of the game killed me one hit when I set it to +100. This is gonna be fun trying to beat it now.

I am glad that they released this patch (though I haven't tested it yet,) if only because it means that they have been reading the feedback from all of the gamers who said the game was too easy, and those that wanted a health bar... Those were some of the larger complaints about this game - it should add a lot of replayability to this thing. Once all the gamers out there get really adept at the editor, there should be alot more lively quests and NPC's to download. (The other big complaint.)

Poor old Kobu

A few days, maybe a week ago, I was noticing a lot of people seemed tobe downloading Kobu's Damage Report Mod. Now, the need is gone. Poor old Kobu, left in the dust. However, it's great to know that Bethesda is actually listening to what people want.
