game wants to delete my spells. |
|
I am having trouble with changing my spell. Seems to be a bug. The game will sometimes not let me change my spell. It asks me wether i wnat to delete the spell of not. When this happens i have to restart the program. Is anyone else having this problem? |

It does that sometimes after periods of extended running - shift+change-spell is the default 'delete spell' hotkey, and it seems the shift somehow 'sticks'. Try hitting capslock or holding down shift while switching spells; it works for me most of the time.

One thing to do is to bring up your stats/item box screen(right click). Click on any spell and it should act normal. |

This is due to an "accessibilty feature" of WindowsXP (at least, maybe other versions as well) If you hold SHIFT for 8 seconds, it locks the shift key - 8 seconds more unlocks it. If you are used to leaving shift down to run instead of using caps-lock you'll hit this occassionally. The annoying thing for me is that there is no way to disable this "feature" - its listed as a key command and permanently on. |

Not here. I have XP and it definately doesnt do this. I hold shift key in many cases for long period of time and it doesnt do this. Other thing is that it aks you if you want to turn something connected with use of shift key if you press it several time (8?) in row (quickly).
However I have same problem with this deleting spell "bug". |

It has nothing to do with an accessibility feature of WinXP.
The way that feature works in XP is not by holding shift down for 8 seconds. It is hitting it 5 times in a row.
And...I have that disabled on my system...I hate that feature...
It is definately a bug in the game. It happens to me many times. The only thing I can do is save and restart. Fixes it every time. _________________ Midiboy

OK, I guess I read the wrong line, but here it is right from Windows Help (I used '=' in place of the column divider which didn't copy)
Accessibility keyboard shortcuts
Press
Right SHIFT for eight seconds = Switch FilterKeys on and off.
Left ALT +left SHIFT +PRINT SCREEN = Switch High Contrast on and off.
Left ALT +left SHIFT +NUM LOCK = Switch MouseKeys on and off.
SHIFT five times = Switch StickyKeys on and off.
NUM LOCK for five seconds = Switch ToggleKeys on and off.
+U = Open Utility Manager.
Now, according to the accessibility tab in my control panel, I have all of the functions disabled - but this appears to override that choice. Does anyone know how to REMOVE those functions short of a complete re-install? It doesn't appear in the add/remove options under Windows Components in XP (I know it was there in Win98) |

Not sure if this will help you or not but if you find the sysoc.inf file and delete all occurences of the word "hide" in there a lot of stuff will show up in your add/remove programs.
One of the big ones is that @#$@^!# MSN messenger. I was soooooo happy when I got rid of that!
Maybe if you edit the file you will have the option to remove accessibility features from the add/remove programs????????? |

This seems to be the same thin that happens to the inventory dialogs after a while. Sometimes clicking stacks just selects one item, as if though you had ctrl key pressed.
It's almost like the game sometimes has problems detected KeyReleased events. Try shift clicking other things. Close your spell window and try picking up some stashes and single items. Do stuff to try and tell the game you are not shift clicking. _________________ (@) |
