Another Underworld remake |
|
Today we added another Ultima Underworld - The Stygian Abyss remake to our database. This one is being developed using TES. The remake is in fact a mod for Elder Scrolls III and you will access the Abyss from the world of Morrowind. A very well playable beta version of the first level is available from fileplanet. You can also check out the projects website though it has not been updated recently. You can take a look at some screenshot in the gallery. |

I love the UUW games but Morrowind engine?
That lame engine with ridiculously simple combat and retarded AI?
No thanks... |

Was UUW better than Morrowind in those areas? _________________ "You may win a thousand fights, but you can only lose one" (Zaknafein to Drizzt - The Dark Elf Trilogy.) |

The character and monster AI prob. not (though good for it time). Controls were very preceice. You could do al kind of different swings and stabs with your weapon. Also jumping could be done very accurate (which is needed for UUW).

No. The Ultima 4 remake by Lyrac is more or less done. At least it is claimed to be the 'Polished' version.
You can download the 'polished' version from
http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1027650712040.shtml
and the music pack from
http://reconstruction.voyd.net/index.php?page=project&type=remakes3d
The mods official site at lyrac.net is down.
I played it throug for about 3 hours. It appeard to me that quite a lot of polishing had te be done yet,
Though it is only the first level, the Underworld Remake in Tes is at the moment the only remake that produces a real 'playable' demo.
(I didnt yet try the ultima 7 remake for NWN)

The enemy AI spellcasters were better and the combat was way more fun. |
