It was a good game, but the ending doesn't make any sense:
Why does the sleeper draw power from Orc hearts? Where did he get power before? Why would the piercing of the Orc hearts open a vortex? Why would same destroy the barrier? |

The Sleeper's power is what caused the barrier to be larger than it should have. It was there before the colony was. Ur-Shak told you that 5 shaman brothers summoned the Sleeper. It was using it's connection through them to maintain it's presence on the Gothic plane of existance. By destroying the connection, the Sleeper was sucked back to his dimension. And when the Sleeper's energy disappeared, then the barrier lacked the energy to maintain itself and it collapsed. At least that's my theory.

Hum... I was confused too, but I'll try to make sense based on what I've heard from others.
When the shaman summoned the sleeper, I guess it means that he came from another plane or something, and needed an energy source to stay on the colony's realm of existence, which are the shaman hearts. Where did he get power before? Somewhere on his home place, I guess '_'
As for the vortex.. maybe it's just something that happens to overgrown hippie mincrawl... err, archdemons when they are being sent back to their home. As for the barrier... I'm nto really sure, maybe it just evaporated because the sleeper couldn't power it anymore?
Know that I'm not much of a help... oh well

val had it right. see the barrier became used to the presence of the sleeper, it even became dependant on it! hence, no sleeper, no barrier. OOH or maybe, all the stockpiled ore actually did effect it, only they didn't need to blow it up. OOH or MAYBE the sleeper began CONTROLLING the barrier from his bedroom! how's THAT for deductioning!?

I think the game had a pretty awful ending. He didn't even kill the Sleeper! He just sucked him into some otehr world.
