Can you beat up absolutely everyone?

Does beating up everyone in Gothic prevent you from solving
certain parts of the game? I notice that they usually just say
"hey let's forget about our disagreement" after you kick their
ass.

I have noticed that people like Gomez stay mad at you though,
which could be a problem. There's also few dudes that you can't
even damage.

Try not to beat up people with names, they might be needed for solving certain quests later. Some characters are invinicible so you can't damage them.

Do you go right? Or do you go left? A simple decision, yes? No ambiguities. Only the dream of the path not taken! And so one might stand in this place and contemplate for a long while. What will I miss if I go left? What will I lose if I go right? And in my indecision, have I chosen a worse fate?

You can beat up anyone you like. Just don't kill them.

Beating him up forms a new quest, New Fence for Fisk.

No! Not a wall-like "fence". It means looking for a new person who can replace Mordrag!

I've been kicking butt

Well, I've been beating everyone up except for Gomez and things seem to
be working out allright. I even slammed some magicians at NC and
Calvahorn in his hut into the ground and they were still willing to sell
me stuff as well as train me! This is a great game! I remember back
in the Ultima days where you had to handle everything with kid gloves.
