A quick question for anyone who knows. When playing gothic in ceritan areas it will run very slow even though i am not in a very graphically intense area. Say the crawler area in gomez's mine. The game runs drastically slow. My sys specs are as follows. Athalon 1.4, hercules 3d prophet 2 64 pro, asus 233 ddr, hercules game theater xp, win xp, 512 meg ram, and a 60 gb drive. Any help would be appreciated

I had an identical problem (severe slowdown at certain "spots" in the game) like the one you mentioned or there is a spot at the bridge near the south gate.

Anyway, when I installed Gothic on Windows ME instead of XP there was a *drastic* improvement.

I know it may be a real pain in the ass to re=install a Windows O/S but I would recommend have a 9X/Xp dual boot..so games like gothic which were intended for 9x can have it.

You could type 'toggle frame' in the console to check the frame rate.
Other ideas are installing Cacheman to stop swapping, create a large permanent swapfile, close all other tasks, defrag the harddisk.
