Problem with Gilbert

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with Gilbert. I found the guy (climbed the steps up), but now I always die when I try to get down because I always fall at the second step (the one AWAY from the mountain).

If I just walk across the cliff of the step I for some odd reason make a giant step which means I always fall down.

Is there something like a 'climb down' function I am missing???

And no, I have no scrolls which would allow me to fly.

Thanks for your help,

Frodo

You must be carefull getting down, but you can.
You could always hit the strafe key when you fall (page down). That is a fault in the game. You can't get hurt falling that way.

Who is Gilbert? And where's this mountain?

Yep. Just hold down the L and R strafe keys when falling great distances. This will keep you upright and from hurting yourself on landing. (it's a bug)

Gilbert is a hermit. He gives you 100 XP when you find him.

He can be found in a cave. You can easily find it:

You leave the old camp through the South Gate and go to the cave where you find Nek.

Then you go along the mountain towards the left - towards the guards who warn you from the Orcs. You find another cave with molerats. That's NOT the cave of Gilbert!

You continue along the mountain. You find some 'rock-steps' and climb them up.

If you reach the Guards who warn you about the Orcs you have gone too far!

Anyone ever find anything in the cave up the steps to the left right before the Orc dogs under that bridge type thing with the cave under it? Was empty when I found it...

There is another way down without cheating at all. Just keep climbing up. From Gilbert's cave you can climb the steps higher. Once you get to the top go around the corner to the left and you'll see a bridge shaped out of land. Just slide down the little slope onto that area, cross the bridge, follow the path to the left and it will decline enough at the end for you to simply jump down into the little camp with the stew cooking over the fire place. Its the camp you've probably already found in the little cave type area to the left on the wall pass the two guards that warn you about the orcs.
