How do I release the Goblin from his cell?

I'm new to this game - a spur of the moment buy!

How do I release the goblin from his cell after I have re-entered the goblin prision. It's near the beginning and after the area with SPIDERS!

Cool a new person. It's a great game by the way. Anyway there is a lever on the floor I think. Just look around. I think there is a lever for each cell in that room. Double click it.

Thanks BSC14!

I meant how do I get rid of the goblin guarding him?
I've got nothing worth throwing to distract him - he caught me trying to pick up the chair several times...

ps. This is a great site and I'm sure, nay, positive that I'll around pestering everyone for a while - as I've just started and I'm not very good YET!

Just kill him. That's what I did anyway. I just went in behind him holding down the left click on the mouse and gave him a good wack. Then moved away from him wile holding down the left click again and wacked him again. He's not that hard to kill. Give it a try. What do you have for a weapon?

When I read your post, I thought, "DISTRACT the goblin lord by the cell? Now that's an approach I haven't seen before." And then I noticed that you were female, and I had to smile, since almost no guy would think of anything other than straight-forward brain bashing as the approach to solve that problem.

Goblin lords are, of course, a bit tougher than their smaller cousins, so at the early stages of the game you may need to work a bit at taking them down. There are times in the game when you can employ stealth tactics, but many times you will need to just put the hammer down and smite some ass.

Welcome to the boards, enjoy the great game of Arx, make sure you have the latest patch installed (ver 1.17).

Love your sig homage to Sisters of Mercy. Takes me back to the day.

LOL! Same thing I was thinking. My first reaction is "KILLLLLLL that SOB!!!!! I might have to try some of that "thinking" stuff. I don't know sounds kinda difficult.

Apparently females think in circles rather than straight lines - there must be more of us here!

Anyway, in the Thief games, distraction worked very well for me - when I wasn't killing Innocents!

As for a weapon, I only have a dagger so I'll have to get up close an' personal, I suppose.

SOM still rock (out there somewhere...)!

Oh yes the Thief games.......I love them. Well let us know how it goes.

BTW there is a walkthrough on this site if you need any help.

Thief or Warrior?

The beginning of the game calls for all out war, the thief skills can come into play much later. Right now you have to stay alive. The walkthrough PDF file is the greatest. It gets you through the game but doesn't spoil eveything. It is almost a must if you want to play this game. That is the only downside I found to it, there just isn't enough ingame clues to get you from point A to B without messing the game up for yourself beyond repair. Be sure to save a lot. It really helps. Good luck and have fun. This is a great game as BSC14 said, and we are glad to help.
