I recieved Gothic as a gift a couple months ago, as a late present from a relative in Florida, (I live in WA) and I have been playing it for awhile now, and just recently I started having trouble: the screen would just freeze then go black, then to the desktop... so I downloaded the most recent patch... and now it refuses to register my CD! I looked at it, and the disk is very scratched up, and the only thing left working is the install... so I e-mailed Pirahna Bytes and told them of my problem... but they refuse to awnser! so I am stuck... then I though of something that was hated among gamers, but was something I was willing to do to play Gothic agian (I really like the game): I could do a full install, and then get a No-CD patch, and play the game like that... and since I have the cd, it isn't illegal, because I am not selling it or anything... just one problem, I don't know where to get a No-CD patch! does anyone know?? I really need one! if you don't want to tell everyone e-mail me:

There is no No-CD patch. Never was, never will be.

What's a no-CD patch? You mean like a virtual CD-ROM? You do know that once you've installed Gothic you don't need the CD's, rite?
Well, Val knows best about things like that. I guess there's none.

The full install shouldnīt ask you for the CD.
Defective CDs are the publisherīs business. PB wonīt even have a original CD they could send you. Unfortunately Xicat arenīt well known for their service. 
I also donīt know of a no-CD patch.

Maybe you should return the game for refund?

sorry about this question... I posted it, then about ten minutes later got it to run... I feel stupid.  but you were right, I did a full install, and then it ran without the disk!
