EverQuest 2: Review @ Gaming Excellence

A review of 'EverQuest II' can be found at Gaming Excellence, with a score of 6.7/10:
Massively multiplayer online role-playing are no doubt by their nature very immersive, time consuming, and sometimes truly addictive monsters. The time, money, and effort some players devote to these types of games would awe and confuse many. EverQuest is a title sometimes referred to "Evercrack", as it is by far one of the most addictive games ever produced. This game was revolutionary for RPG's, and continues to be a strong title to this day. It is easily one of this first well made, and most successful massively multiplayer online games, bringing together thousands of both beginners and RPG experts alike. By combining their strengths and strategies together to overcome greater powers, gain experience and pick up the "phat loot”, Sony Online Entertainment has no doubt done a great job. They have now released a follow-up to this game, EverQuest II, but can it live up the high expectations set by its predecessor?

What I Reveewed Over Sumer Vacashon

I am no Everquest 2 fan. EQ2 bored me. But worse than EQ2 is a review of EQ2 coming from one of EQ1s fanatic nightly lovers.

This review was nothing more than a lengthy sorrowful moan that makes, purely by impact, a superb demonstration of the effect of love upon critique. This was so apparent that I am not even certain that other Everquest players could learn much about EQ2 from this thread. Points about annoying sound, the superior characters of EQ1 (You know the ones, the WWF wrestlers with one leg shorter than the other) and slaps in the face of DAoC (also boring) make this abundantly clear.

That being said, I must agree with the author that EQ2's graphics engine simply does not scale well. At the low end, it looks poor. At the high end,it does not take advantage of immediate future tech such as high end graphics cards.
