I was sent to the mine by Saturas and I made it to the bottom, by hacking and slashing (I had to run around Ian because I couldn't kill him). Anyway I made it to the bottom of the mine. Now what? There is a (named) guard down there that I can't kill. What am I suppose to do down there. I've already killed the queen along time ago, and took her eggs.

I am in the Mine that has the Minecrawler quest. The other mine, I believe it's called the old mine (I forget), is the one you pass at the very beginning of the game; and the last time I looked (chapter 1) it was unaccessible

You are at the wrong location. Look at the map on GothicDot to sort all those mines. |

Not only are you in the wrong mine, you should not have been able to get into it. Ian is in the OLD Mine.
If Saturas sent you to the FREE Mine, it is because the Old Mine collapsed. You must have cheated or teleported past the gate of the Old Mine.
When you go to the Free Mine (behind the New camp) Gorn will be there waiting for you.
The first time I played this I didn't even know there was a second mine, until I got to this point.

Well, as a matter of fact, the mine door was down, the wench was jammed, and I had to cheat to get in. I guess that "new mine" is indeed new to me. I have to search for it.
